What is the Duration of The Shed Construction Process?
At Buffalo Built, the vast majority of our shed projects tend to run smoothly because we’ve got a robust process in place. This ensures that each element of the build happens at the right time and that you’re kept informed throughout the whole process.
We’re often asked how long it takes to build a shed, and in this article, Ross Barker takes you through the key project milestones and a typical timeline from start to finish.
Timeline of the Building Process
Once you’re satisfied with your shed design, you can accept the proposal and pay your initial deposit invoice (5% of the value of your kit). Once we receive your payment we can begin the permit process, and we’ll schedule a detailed site visit with you too.
It’s difficult to estimate a time frame for the permit process as it is totally in the hands of your local council. However, our team has a wealth of experience applying for permits and we can work with you to streamline the process as much as possible.
Once permits are approved and we’ve received your second progress payment (25% of your shed kit), production can begin.
This part of the process is more firmly within our control, and the production of your shed kit typically takes around 8 weeks to complete.
The slab and footings come next, and we usually aim to have this looked after whilst your shed kit is in production. Your concreter will contact you to arrange a suitable time to pour the footings and slab for your shed, and they’ll invoice you directly.
Next is your final invoice payment, after which we deliver your kit to site, ready for installation.
We’ll schedule the next available installer to erect your shed, and depending on the size of your kit, the building process can take anywhere from a few days to 3 weeks.
The last step is the handover. Your installer will invoice you directly for the shed construction component, then the project is signed off.
